sanity window

(5)This is for me. For me to write and live in this little block of white and nothing and whatever. Feeling worn and sick and strange and wanting and weak. Hoping coffee will help. Five wedding guides and $100 stand between me and a hopefully relaxing evening. Now is the time.

(4)Finding my stride quickly and easily. Say the same words in a hundred different ways and it’s easy. It’s nothing it’s meaningless it’s a bag of crisps that’s 94.3% air. This coffee has an aftertaste that tastes like celery to me. Shouldn’t have gotten the organic one. Whatever. oh well. Caffeinated celery bean water what the flip ever.

(3)That one I just finished was for a zoo, which are always kinda fun because it’s at least a little different. Coffee is working even though it’s celery-tastic. Haha, I’m so fucking weak, all the songs that are playing on pandora are almost making me cry. I blame hormones. It’s ridiculous.

(2)Over halfway there. Going fast and going faster. Fingers and brain you all know what to do by now. I’m going to be at 86 total by the end of this day. Good. yes. good. I should shoot for more than 5 tomorrow, I really should.

(1)Hunger is starting to eat at me. hahaha. haha ha. Nice one brain. But really body, you’ve got plenty to burn in there, have at it. Where was I? Oh, right. One more guide to write. It’s about a lighthouse or something? I don’t even know, nor do I care. Soon it will be done and I will be done.

(0) I wrote them all and I’m done and I’m exhausted. I should probably go through and queue up some more for tomorrow, but I dunno if I have it in me really. I’m feeling so drained and strange. But that’s okay. I’m done writing and I made $100 in like four hours and that’s  not bad at all so I’m going to try my very best to let myself stop thinking so goddamn much about everything for a little while. Peace. Love.

Saturday Slaylist

Welp, it’s am and I should absolutely be finishing up my night’s work so I can catch a few hours of sleep… but I had this like 80% put together and I just wanted to have it for tomorrow. (Plus that Kongos shit just came on my pandora again and I was like fuck … I gotta. ) So, hopefully by the time I’m listening to this I will be free, and hopefully it will be a nice Saturday night. This is a beautifully eclectic combination of songs, and I couldn’t be happier with it honestly.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros -40 day dream (rejected this one from an earlier playlist but it’s making a comeback today)

Wax Taylor – Say yes Instrumental mix (What’s a playlist without some electro swing?)

Kongos – I’m only joking (This song grabs a HOLD of me. weird and almost scary. “there’s a song, you’re trembling to it’s tune, at the request of the moon”)

The Bravery – Fistful of Sand (moon version) (this is one of those lyrically  sad songs that make me feel uplifted for some reason??)

Twenty one pilots – Tear in my Heart (“But my taste in music is your face!”)

Skeewiff – Don’t Rock the Boat (electro swing again, just delicious beats and sounds and harmonies and mmm nice)

Atreyu – Bleeding Mascara (Because I flailed around in a mosh pit and screamed my face off to this song yo! always one of my Atreyu faves. Couldn’t resist.)

Playlist 30: Winter writer

I finished all my work and then I went on a really long walk while talking to my parents on the phone (via my headphones so I didn’t have to hold the phone in my hand / so I could look like an insane person talking to herself.) It was really nice out, cold and cloudy and slightly drizzly and just just getting dark. It felt good. I’ve been feeling pretty emotionally shitty and weak the past few days, so that’s been fun. Walking in the too-cold with just my thinnest jacket makes me feel better, calms my body as well as my mind. I did it last night as well. It was snowing and I kept daring myself to go one block further, face into the wind and snow. Biting and stinging and breath catching in my lungs. One more block, just one more.

Twenty-One Pilots – Fake You Out

Loudon Wainwright III – Vampire Blues

Silverstein – Burning Hearts (Acoustic)

Peter Bjorn and John – The Chills

Eartha Kitt – I Want to be Evil

Matt & Kim – Not That Bad

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Red Right Hand

Playlist 28: Happy New Year! (linear time is a meaningless construct) edition

Damn you guys. I can’t believe it’s going to be 2015. What the hell is with that? That’s like… way too far in the future to possibly be right now. Crazy times my friends, just nuts. Well, here’s hoping that it is a good night for everyone, myself included. It might snow supposedly, so that would be cool. Stay safe everyone, stay warm. Make good decisions. Enjoy yourselves. I was going to bust out some new years themed songs, but then I listened to a few and I really wasn’t feeling it. Sooo for this playlist I’m going to go back though all the playlists I’ve made this year and pull out some of my favorite songs. that I’ve discovered this year. (I might also throw some new years songs in here for fun, I haven’t decided yet tbh. Okay I did throw in a few, new year’s songs are bold and italic). There will be a ton of songs on here by the end, but that’s okay.

1. Alt-J -Breezeblocks (This has to be my #1 man. I fucking love Alt-J so much now and I got my boyfriend and my brother all into them and it’s all thanks to this one song. Listen to the round / harmonies at the end. It just slays me man. I’ll eat you whole I love you so)

2. Miike Snow – Animal (This is another artist I really dig and this is the first song of his I fell in love with. Nice.)

3. Arctic Monkies – Fluorescent Adolescence (You used to get it in your fish nets, now you only get it in your night dress… this band has become a go-to for me this year. Starting with this song.)

4. The Eagles – Funky New Year (If you’re looking for a fun(ky) old school new year’s song, this is for you kid.)

5. Twenty One Pilots – Guns for Hands (tough call between this song and “car radio”. I have come to really dig this band overall, they have such a weird but cool style, with a lot of the *desperate intensity* that I love hearing in songs.)

6. Two Door Cinema Club – Cigarettes in the Theatre (energetic little indie pop band that I ended up digging.)

7. Strfkr – Rawnald Gregory Erickson the second (Not a huge fan of this band in general, but this song was a memorable part of my year. Also known as the song my boyfriend had stuck in his head forever and could only remember like two words of it and I somehow found it for him)

8. Regina Spektor – My dear Acquaintance (a happy new year) (If you’re looking for an oddly morose but somehow still pretty beautiful new year’s song, this is for you kid.)

9. Capital Cities – Safe and Sound (My boy got all up into this band after I shared this song for him. The video is still one of my fun feel good faves)

10. Metric – Help I’m Alive (An underdog fave for me, not the kind of music I’d usually be into but Metric kept making their way onto my playlists all year. This song was the first of theirs I really liked)

11. Sea Wolf – You’re a Wolf (This band has a lot of songs that are a bit too slow for my casual listening taste, but I really like their style overall and they made their way into my playlists and my heart this year, starting with this song.)

12. Snoop Dogg (Feat. Marty James) – New Year’s Eve (If you’re looking for a generic sounding new year’s rap song with mild to moderate misogyny, this is for you kid)

13. Phantom Planet – Demon Daughters (Phantom planet is a disbanded band but I just really discovered them this year. This song is my fave of theirs, lyrically and musically)

14. Priory – Weekend (Priory is a cool little indie band with a few songs that I really dig. This is one of their more superficial songs, but also one of their most fun)

15. Parov Stelar – Booty Swing (The beginning of my love for electro-swing music. What can I say? The heart wants what it wants.)

16. A Great Big World – This is the New Year (If you’re looking for a light, pop-y, upbeat, jumpy new year’s song, this is for you kid.)

Playlist 13: Lucky 13 Edition

We are leaving in 15 minutes to go see a play, which is fun and cool because I love live theatre and it is my favorite and it’s awesome and even when it isn’t that good it’s usually still pretty awesome. SOoooooo No time to write anything else here really. I’m hoping for a fun night out and a fun night in afterward. Last night was pretty great and I’m hoping the trend continues. I hope you guys have a great weekend as well.

1. New Politics – Harlem

 2. Twenty one Pilots – House of Gold

3. Bloc Party – Helicopter

4. The Thirst – Today

 5. The XX – Crystallized

6. Lions in Cages – Wolf Gang

Playlist 9: 696969

Six songs in playlist #9. Honestly I had a couple more I could have put on here but I decided against ’em because I just wasn’t loving ’em when I went through and listened to the videos. Plus, this way I got to label this playlist with a bunch of 69s for a valid reason. *high fives a bunch of 12 year olds who think that’s funny*

I finished all my work so I should’t have anything to do tomorrow (See: later today when I wake up) So that should be nice, even though I won’t be making as much money as I’d like. Dunno what’s going to happen article wise honestly. I hope I find out soon. I’m hoping for a fun, good, relaxing, stimulating weekend. I’m wishing peace and love and love and peace to all my digital friends and peeps.

1. Spoon – I Turn my Camera On

2. Tunng – Woodcat

3. The Used – The Bird and the Worm

4. Beck – Go it Alone

5. The Dirty Heads – My Sweet Summer

6. Twenty One Pilots – Car Radio
